Notes About The Poem

For Regina McIntosh's Winter Slumber contest

I wanted to write a poem that was not prose or used pronouns and focus on assonance alliteration and consonance. I do feel not writing in prose and without pronouns has taken away the emotive feel of the poem.

Blessings of Silence

Belief is the nemesis of uncertainty, in times of torment we keep faith  in God's gift of blessings bestowed upon us. In a world without morals Children of summer seek refuge in colder climates;  leaving behind loved ones in the care of the almighty. In days of Devilish darkness, sad stars hibernate like somber souls. Upon the return of solitude, whilst shaping strings of silence, a troubled tongue becomes a soundless voice. Reminiscing unredeemed memories, heartbeats echo gently at nightfall, as a black blanket covers indigo horizons. Shrouded shadows in manipulative mirrors, shield the sensitivity of sincere speech. Without words, embodied emotions, integrate into invisible inflictions. Perpetual pain from a poisonous past, repeats in an unrhymed repetitive rhythm, as fragile fingers trigger hidden trauma. There are secrets in suppression, with so much lost in a suicide of expression. Spiteful spirits reappear, reflecting like neoteric neon drops on midnight shores, washing away forlorn forgotten footsteps. Trials of time leave behind trails of truth, as facts of fate fail in this false fairground. Reflections of regret resonate a reality, where the world is working on its own worries. In hollow nothingness, no one offers holy hope - only silence remains. As snow covers frozen shores, hearts look to horizons of higher powers. Hope for a prospect of principles from our creator, creates realms of reverie offering refuge. Lost in a moonlight dream world, dormancy evokes pale hued horizons. A serene scene of saffron, scarlet shades, glowing gloriously in a devotional dawn. After an advent of adversity, ascending in adornment of appreciation - born again blooms blossom to butterfly breaths.

I love the softness and profoundness of butterfly breaths, overlooking, this all. God, sending the fragility of hope out in it's season, to brave existence, to pollinate reason. The answer to a large part of Man engaging in the pettiness, the great nothingness, but God is still in control and there still exists integrities, there still flows the Streams, Deltas, Sea, sees.

Oh my, what a heart-touching poem this is, dear Silent One..I truly felt that 'devilish darkness' creeping up as evil silhouettes of pain and those mysteries/'secrets in suppression' really glimpse their hints in these profound lines..The emotions in this one are so introspective, deep and thoughtful with an aching essence.I resonated with every word here, especially, seeking the help of divinity as during turmoil "hearts look to horizons of higher powers" in search of hope..Breathtaking imagery

Your alliterations are shining with their glorious aura, flowing ever so elegantly and I love the meticulous wordplay of metaphorical interpretations too, here.. "A serene scene of saffron, scarlet shades, glowing gloriously in a devotional dawn.", "Children of summer seek refuge in colder climates" Ahh, so many soul-hitting lines.. This should do very well in the contest, best of luck!!

Your thoughts are above the average level. Your alliterations are so natural. Yes, it is in times of trials and torment that we look up to the heavens and God. Belief is antithetical to uncertainty. " whilst shaping strings of silence, a troubled tongue becomes a soundless voice. Reminiscing unredeemed memories," How powerful are these lines. Silence is a refuge the soul seeks during times of torment and it gives one opportunities for self introspection. Your poem is outstanding not inly in its alliterative beauty, but in its powerful exposition of lofty thoughts.

Yes, it is true. In the Silence and darkness of... going through... Re-silence and Light are Re-Born. And, I marvel at the Creator... who...mandated... this to be so. So Enjoyed, Thank you...luv~

Dear Friend, SO. Your poetic prowess is unmatched, as evidenced by the brilliance of this piece. The imagery, flow, and imaginative elements are truly remarkable. The poem beautifully delves into the timeless and eternal essence of silence. It serves as a reminder for everyone to pause, seek solace in silence, and engage in introspection. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your work. It is worth noting that the use of deceitful and insincere language is strongly discouraged.

Moreover, there are numerous captivating lines within this poem, such as "hearts yearn for transcendence, seeking guidance from our divine creator, giving rise to realms of contemplation that offer solace." These lines encapsulate the profound essence of this piece. This a fave for my list

What an epic write! My fave stanzas 1,2,7 for obvious reasons. But there are those who refuse to remain silent, who herald hope even in the face of ridicule, apathy and outright opposition. I'd like to think I'm one of them. You and Inky just keep putting out high end poetry. A fave for me

Thanks Tom and rightly so, they should not be silent.. This one is more about needed to take a step back and finding silence to think, to reflect and in many way connect with your creator, so when you rise from your slumber you are a different person with a better perspective.. I knew you would like this one..

Wow this is brilliant! I absolutely love the way you’ve written this in such a spiritual and also thought provoking manner. Your use of poetic techniques is so very artistic and flows seamlessly throughout! I love the alliterations and assonance and your word pairings, that adds strength to what you’ve conveyed here: and your way of painting imagery is as always captivating! Theres so much conveyed here, when so much is lost in translation and how one finds blessing in silence, and when past is

Poisonous and sincere speech is frowned upon. As trials of time leave behind trails of truth! How clever is the wordplay in just that line too. I love the sound of this and i can imagine you reading this! You would do a good job! The opening lines were soulful and also i love how you’ve written “ Spiteful spirits reappear, reflecting like neoteric neon drops on midnight shores, washing away forlorn forgotten footsteps.” Too many of them i see and i can resonate with that so strongly! “ Hope for a prospect of principles from our creator, creates realms of reverie offering refuge. Lost in a moonlight dream world,“ amidst all we still turn to the creator for hope and light to find our way back home: im also loving your use of colors and other descriptive imagery! So artistic! Pleasure reading this! Definitely another fave for me
