Black Water

The purity of life in cool drops
The sanctity of this earth its measure
It is forgiving but not untouchable
Above all a resource to treasure

Now we are faced with black water
A result of mans increasing needs
Our times have brought great good
Now, with us, the earth pleads

Find a way to live in harmony
Hear me, listen to my voice
What we have is slipping away
Stop! before we have no choice

This oil spill has resulted in 80 percent of the tourist motel reservations being canceled on Florida's Gulf coast and the oil hasn't even reached the shore yet, Barbara. Indeed, the earth is pleading -- earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tsunamis and now this. We had our chance to live in harmony with nature, but I feel that opportunity has already slipped away. What a thought-provoking poem, fellow LNC! Love, Carolyn

you speak of spoling our earth with disregard for it's beauty and Gods great gift to all. I along with many others are supportive ... well stated, thank you, chuck

I feel you truly I do! I've always felt God's love manifested in nature, and I've been around long enough to see it cut in half of what it was when I was a boy. My spirit cries along with yours. Please read my poems "I Remember When' and 'Mr. Mankind". They say basically the same things. If enough poets start singing the same song then perhaps the world will hear in time.
