Black Face Halloween
This Halloween let’s everyone
Black, brown, yellow, red, white and green
Go in blackface
To unite in celebration of our roots
To free them from the guilt and shame
Of being low and down and dirty
In exile from our home.
Home after all is where the heart is
And so here I am with all my heart
Knocking on your door
Expecting something sweet
Bringing playful costume in return.
Is it scary, is it fun?
It’s always up to you.
