Black Coffee
You're really this tepid
In your dealings with
Me,
Warm upon the first taste
On my tongue,
But
The pleasantries don't last
For long
They disappear like the smoke
From the mug
And your coldhearted laugh
Chills me from my teeth
To my bones
And I fall prey
To the joker, the freezing sludge
That brewed in the pot
Like the sugar I added that
Simply dissolved,
I am useless
And you are far too strong
And just when I think I'll
Pour the whole thing
Down the sink,
I knock it back and drink
I need the caffeine,
After all
