SILENCE
prowls on soft paws 
with sharp claws
Cutting up the 
Middle Road
Dark shadow moves 
SILIENCE
In absentia 
Empty Absynthe
Puncture wounds
Cold wind blows
Over tracks
Skids softly
like warm

on

Leanne Lovejoy-Burton June 10, 2018 at 7:11 PM That's a beautiful way of looking at it Darlene. Black cats all around us, some would say they're bad luck, I think they're a good omen. Cats unlike dogs do the choosing. If your cat comes to you, she will stay, but they're always free to come and go. Back in the beginning there was Eartha, now Aretha (Georgia's familiar) who likes to scratch her to bits, now that cat definitely chooses. x

Joseph P. DiMino June 5, 2018 at 7:22 PM Very interesting; masterfully done. I had a black cat, Shadow (old age took him); whenever I would do prayer meditation out load, he was gone. Wanted no part of it. Hilarious:) But he was very good and affectionate with me. Really we were best of buddies, inseparable otherwise. Intrigued very much, and waiting for next installment. Leanne Lovejoy-Burton June 5, 2018 at 9:17 PM Love Black Cats. Had a cat called Eartha once, beautiful creature, when the baby arrived she left. Admittedly she was beginning to have seizures (old age), but there was a distancing, as if she was out of favour and of no consequence. Never found her, we think she may have found a quiet place and passed into wherever cat heaven is. Animals don't worry about prayer and preaching, if they are treated with love and respect, your familiars will stay with you until they're called to wherever. Must sojourn and read your short stories Joe. On sabbatical at present, will return with a story at some stage.Your pal sounds like he was given the royal treatment and so they should be. :)

I usually read it, when I do read it, with the music running in the background. Just read it without, it seems to have more tooth and nail in the mind, without and something of the syringe and trackmarks with...it's an interesting storyline this one. If it were to be read out, I'd find someone with a Belarusian accent...not Danube German. The story continues to develop.

I've taken a little bit of a sabbatical, I've got some stories formulating in my brain, new stories different muses. Might just pace it though for a while ... that Middle of the Road is an interesting place to be - it's the traffic you have to watch out for. :)
