Birthday Preterition
Although my birthday's very soon,
I won't expect a card or gift
(the shops are open late tonight);
don't think of me; I won't be miffed.
These aftershaves, these ties and shirts
are looking good - but save your cash;
and at my age my birthday's banned!
(That barber shop would wax my 'tache).
Those shops have books I love to read;
I drink that whisky, and that beer.
I don't suppose I'll be surprised
by any type of gift this year...
