Big Love Part 1
There’s a statue of the Redeeming Christ
on a mountain near Rio De Jeneiro,
The faithful of Brazil count on him
to keep them on the straight and narrow.
With his hands spread wide he does his best
to give their heartstrings a tug,
But do any of them ever stop to think
that what he needs might be a hug?
But the girl from Ipanema’s arms
aren’t long enough to wrap around his neck,
And she just doesn’t have the height she needs
to give him a little peck.
He feared that the day might not ever come
when he’d find his one true love,
He’d have to be satisfied with his mountain top
and gazing from above.
Then one day he overheard a tourist talking
about a statue named Liberty,
When they spoke her measurements
he thought to himself, “Now that’s the girl for me.”
Her height was listed in the brochure as
being one hundred and fifty feet,
And Jesus knew that a gal her size
would make his life complete.
So late one night he left his stand
and while the city of Rio slept,
He decided that he was going to meet this girl
so down the mountain he crept.
He learned that she lived on a harbor island
outside the city of New York,
He was happy to hear that she wore a robe like his
so he didn’t feel like such a dork.
