Big Bad Mixed Message
Three little pigs, as you remember--
two lazy pigs build shoddy huts,
one shack of straw and one of timber--
was meant to warn us of short cuts.
The third pig builds with brick and mortar,
and in that house his brothers quarter,
because their homes, to their alarm,
prove flawed to keep them safe from harm.
The two had laughed and called him crazy
because he’d labored while they played.
All three survive. What point was made?
It seems to me the moral’s hazy.
Who would prepare instead of play,
if someone else will save the day?
