Big Bad Mixed Message

Three little pigs, as you remember-- two lazy pigs build shoddy huts, one shack of straw and one of timber-- was meant to warn us of short cuts. The third pig builds with brick and mortar, and in that house his brothers quarter, because their homes, to their alarm, prove flawed to keep them safe from harm. The two had laughed and called him crazy because he’d labored while they played. All three survive. What point was made? It seems to me the moral’s hazy. Who would prepare instead of play, if someone else will save the day? 1/11/2022 * Pushkin Stanza *

A thought-provoking poem. The third pig will be the example of what works, the other two had a great scare. We learn from the moral of the story. Good Day!

But for how long would the first two last, wouldn't the third sleep sounder as he knew what he built was secure, somehow I feel that honest good hard work reaps rewards. A though provoking poem and very clever. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

Good point PS. It doesn't say if the other two pigs learned anything from their mistake or not or if the two lazy pigs ended up living off their brother. Loved this. God Bless, JB PS I think a devotional collection is a great idea.

You make a great point, and have fleshed out more of what is missing in that story! I'm glad you liked this piece :) ~ps

I perceive a touch of realpolitik in your analysis, PS. But then if the big bad wolf had some TNT in his huffs and puffs, he could have got all three; and that is power politics. Thanks for the stimulating fun tale.

Yes the TNT would have changed things up! I think I would like to see the two unwise pigs "eat some crow." A big fat apology would have been nice! Thank you for stopping by. So glad that you liked this one :)

You Represent a great moral to this story, too many people count on others to take care of things for them because they are too lazy to do it themselves. One thing is true… the lazy pigs lost everything when their houses were blown down. The pig with the Brickhouse kept everything and saved his fellow friends. Excellent rhyme! I thoroughly enjoyed this P.S. blessings xxoo

So true. A very hazy moral. I can't imagine what the ants are thinking. Maybe they didn't pull a fast one on those lazy grasshoppers. :) gw

Laughing at myself because I admit I prefer the happy endings. Maybe it's enough that it is obvious who the hero is... Thank you for stopping by :) ~ps
