When I within your four library walls
Did engage with several books awhile
Your winsome glance, once read, still me enthrals
And my heart fast ensnared was by that smile.

While your look spoke to me in rich volumes
Little did I realise so much then
How my heart would surrender mid your tomes
That love is much mightier than the pen,

New chapters were well written in my mind
With every visit read between each line
I yearned in spirit with your soul to bind
And wished with all my heart that you were mine.

What would I not in some novel time give
To know that in your hands my tale would live.

The words are magical and beautifully expressed in a sea of swirling phrases that dance upon the tongue. Emile.

Quite brilliant! Your poem reminds me very much of the style and technique of the great Philip Larkin. Superbly done!! :-) john.

To be spoken of in the same breath as Larkin takes my breath away.If I could hold a candle to that bright sun,my flame would indeed flicker with joy.Thank you for your extremely generous comments
