Written: August 04, 2023 ______________________________________________________________ I put my heart on the kitchen table. A reminder of the love that once was stable Cut all you desire with this razor-sharp knife. All I owe you is this red loneliness strife. In the depths of my chest, aching and raw, A heart once full of hope is broken by a flaw. I put it on display, vulnerable and bare. I'm inviting you to come and bear your share. With this sharpest knife, I offer you power. To cut through the memories, hour by hour. But beware, dear one, for my heart is not weak. It may bleed, but it won't break, and it won't seek Approval or validation from your hands, I owe you nothing, not matching a glance. You may slice through the laughter we shared, The dreams we dared But agnize that I won't beg for your forgiveness, Or succumb to this pain, this red loneliness. I put my heart on the kitchen table. A reminder of the love that once was stable But now it lies exposed, vulnerable, and bare. A symbol of the bruise and burden I bear. Cut anything you wish, let the pieces fall, But previse that I won't crumble or crawl. I'll gather the fragments, And rebuild with strength. In this wreckage, a raw life will length. I owe you nothing, mangled my tears. I've learned to conquer my fears. So assert your knife and carve your mark. But I'll conquer, darkness won't define the spark Of resilience and strength that ignite my core, I am beyond the pain you strain to explore.
