Bess and Harry Truman

Husband Harry was well known for using earthy language now and then.

He used a not so nice word other than "crap" over and over again!

Bess heard that term so often that it became hard for her to endure.

Said she, "I'm trying to get him to clean up his act and use the term "manure!"

If Bess were alive today, she would probably have an easier time getting Joe Pesci to refrain from using profanity. This is another great clerihew Bob.

I guess that why they are called "salt of the earth" big diff between earthy language and cursing; one I can take the other is repulsive. Your verse reminds me decency is still in style Bob. Nice one!

LOL Oh, yes. People use the word "manure" so often when they're upset - NOT. This is hilarious, Bob. Wishing you success in the clerihew contest! Love, Carolyn
