Beneath the Towering Beech

Where gray shadows lurk beneath the towering beech A kaleidoscope of color seeks to linger in the space Where bare brown leaves cover the sunrays cannot reach, Where gray shadows lurk beneath the towering beech Squirrels battle for nuts, while tiny chipmunks screech. And I, I am content to observe the habitat, this place, Where gray shadows lurk beneath the towering beech A kaleidoscope of color seeks to linger in the space.

I find this an interesting contrast between the 'kaleidoscope of color ' and the grays and browns of fall, perhaps it is the memory of those colors?

Thanks for your comment and your supposition. As I was writing it, I was looking at such a situation, and I noticed the myriad of colors around the perimeter of the beech tree that were not finding there way under the tree..."a kaleidoscope of color seeks to linger" beneath the tree but is excluded from the area. It is an interesting contrast to observe.
