Beneath Beech Forest
The swamp is covered with marigold
The smell is reminiscent of ballads of the old
The creatures living there are eerie but have hearts of gold
Many stories of this place are told
Beyond the swamp large clearing lays
Above it owl at night often flies
Between the clearing and the forest
Forest in which nightingale sings his choirs
There lies cemetery under beech trees
Long time ago wife gave young soldier a kiss
So for at least this moment he felt bliss
What he didn’t know never feeling it again his destiny is
For as he died from mortal wound
He was buried in this cemetery deep in the ground
Surrounded by marigold
He was not much above twenty years old
Now all after him one traveling there sees
Is a cross beneath beech trees
There is no name on the cross
And that is a great loss
But as wind gently murmurs in beech trees through the night
There between the trees shines eerie light
It is the soul of soldier who gave his life in a fight
And it is an uncanny and powerful sight
For what is at horizon edge
Compared with a distance from swamp to cemetery ledge
It is a start of what power of the soul is to greatest abstract mind
And only here in ballad of nightingale among beech trees it is found
