Notes About The Poem

For Nette Onclaud''s MUSINGS ON A BENCH Contest/ March 2026

Bench in Winter

Frigid wind buffets the park’s lonesome bench. It stoically endures as always and wonders if anyone will venture into its empty world this afternoon. As it thinks of bustling, summer days, while longing for sunshine’s steady warmth and a view of laughing, playing children, snow silently falls; no one comes today.

No one ventures to go out in bleak winter. So, no bench in a park or open space can expect to have the warmth of human touch. Well done Andrea. Congratulations on your top win .

This is poem that needs the accompaniment of a lonely bench pic to pull our heart strings. I say that because I looked thru so many for my entry and saw so many that truly look abandoned. It's a beautiful poem, Andrea
