Being A Mr Scrooge
The Scripture in Luke 6:38 where Jesus says, "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be poured into your lap", often followed by the principle that the measure you give is the measure you receive back.
This verse encourages Generosity, but its context also speaks to giving Mercy, Kindness, and Forgiveness, as the following verses focus on Loving your enemies and being Merciful like God gives you mercy.
Opposite of a Scrooge
Measure: Jesus connects giving to receiving: "For with the same measure you use, it will be measured to you" (Luke 6:38b), emphasizing that the quality of our giving (mercy, kindness) determines what we receive.
Earlier verses in Luke 6 (like verses 27-37) talk about loving your enemies, doing good to those who hate you, and showing mercy, setting the stage for verse 38 to mean generous, sacrificial love, not just monetary giving. I am not saying that it’s easy and when it’s hard, the trust factor MUST that place as the Scripture says in Proverbs 3:15-16.
The opposite of being Mr. Scrooge is someone Generous, Kind, Compassionate,
Community-Focused, and Benevolent (meaning kindness).
Generosity: This is a promise that generous, whether material or spiritual, will be rewarded back to you if you are willing to spend and share with others that come across your paths.
Benevolence: is an act of goodwill, sympathy, and helping others voluntarily.
Compassion & Empathy: meaning you cares deeply for others' well-being.
Community-Minded: meaning Enjoys fellowship, celebrations, and inclusivity like you enjoys your family at a Christmas dinner.
Warmth & Affection: Shows your care for employees and family and others that come across your paths.
