Line of inquiry- 'have we repaid all debts of love'
_____________________________________________________

As my life is a God given gift,
I should cherish it as best as I can.
There is so much to do within a life span
But very little time remains,
As I am at the last lap of my race.

By word or deed if I have hurt someone,
I should ask forgiveness, before my days end.
Let love take precedence when hate surrounds;
Let my heart be filled with compassion.
Let tolerance bring grace when I feel hostile.
Let me not get caught in life’s swirling currents

I should keep a grateful heart for all the simple joys of life,
For all the treasured moments given by others,
For the love lavished on me by my parents and dear ones.
I should ask now and then if I have repaid all my debts
Through acts of caring and love, in return for what I got.

When autumn has set in, I am reminded of life’s fragility.
Like falling leaves, when we drop off from life,
Mother earth claims our bodies as hers.
Living, breathing and loving is just a onetime boon.

So, I must make the most of my life in the best way possible.
I must find time to look around to appreciate the beauty,
Which God has graciously strewn all around us.
Find time to meet friends, for they add to life’s luster.
Lend a helping hand or flash a smile at those-
Deserted in life and feeling weighed down.

As the race winds down and the final turn is in sight,
My life, I realize is not one to be squandered,
In aimless pursuits or just for hoarding riches,
But to share, laugh and enjoy with my fellow men.

As my torso withers and my yawns become weaker,
When the Grim Reaper prowls at the door, let me welcome him,
Not in dread but in cheer, contented as having repaid my debts
As best as I can and on waking up from a prolonged sleep,
Enter a blessed realm beyond the tangents of space and time.

Dear Valsa, A lantern, soft, steady, and full of grace. I felt autumn as time slips by, and the courage it takes to meet the end with open hands. Love is a feeling and a practice, a debt we repay daily with kindness, forgiveness, and presence. Excellent! Autumn Blessings, Dear Valsa, Daniel

A beautifully crafted poem, dear Valsa. Your word painting is rich with beautiful, flowing lines that evoke deep emotion. As we near the twilight of our existence, poetry emerges as a deep reflection on the essence of spirit and the journey within, acting as a collection of thoughts and feelings. It nurtures an awareness of our fleeting existence, a deep sense of gratitude, an urge of kindness, and the grace to forgive. Inviting us to embrace generosity, to offer forgiveness without hesitation, and to confront mortality with a light heart, it guides the reader away from despair and into an oasis of equilibrium.

Your poem is a moving testament of faith and introspection—a moral and spiritual autobiography near the twilight of life. It embraces forgiveness, gratitude, compassion, and peace with mortality. The tone recalls Tagore’s serenity and Wordsworth’s reflective calm, but with a distinctly devotional, personal touch. It leaves the reader not in sorrow, but in peace—an invitation to live kindly, forgive freely, and meet death smiling.

We are all in the queue for this surgery! Is the simplest and the most rewarding surgery these days! Would not worry too much about it.

Dear Victor, sorry to hear that you will have to undergo a cataract surgery in November. It is something so common, these days. So needn't worry. My prayers!
