Before Another Day Is Gone
He was standing there with his cardboard prayer
saying help your fellow man,
and bless the soul of a willing bro’
that puts a dollar in my hand.
I passed him by saying why oh’ why
did it have to be that way,
that a fellow soul is taken down so low
and left begging for another day.
Chorus
Tell me tell me, me oh my, just where did we go wrong,
help us, help us get it right before another soul is gone.
A mother and her little baby
were standing in a check-out line,
the scarf she wore that covered up her face
said there's something's there to hide.
A person standing next to me
shouts America or go home,
I looked away and I closed my eyes
thinkin' where did we go wrong.
Chorus
Tell me tell me, me oh my, just where did I go wrong,
help me, help me see the light before another day is gone.
A young man walks the sidewalks
in the town where he was born,
but then one day he hears a call,
he must lay his freedom down,
but a choking fear made him break away
in a race he couldn’t win,
now one more mother’s son has paid
for the color of his skin.
Repeat Chorus 3X
