Becoming Too Familiar
I took from you, your own free will,
but need you living for me still
I need you, loyal; unctuous,
to protect me from the killing light
?
I control all things; save my thirst,
which started with my very first
that drink of what I now must have
a curse I cannot ever fight
My hold on you is even stronger
for all of life, or even longer
you must ensure I'm always fed
and safe when day replaces night
I suck the red blood from your neck,
enough to keep my thirst in check,
to take from you, your spineless life
would be a careless act of spite
But still, I'd snatch the beating heart
straight from your chest without a start
should ever you be too familiar,
I'll give to you, your one last rite
