Because of Him
As I looked into her deep blue eyes
My heart told me to forgive
The conflict began when I was a teen
I knew right from wrong and she ignored me
Now with his help, I could stop pretending
He restored my faith
He gave me hope
He opened up my heart
He brought me to my knees
With tears streaming down my face
I looked at her, really looked at her
For the first time in my life, I knew
It was time to take the road to forgivness
He smiled as I took a deep breath
I forgive you for not taking care of me
I forgive you for giving money away that you didn’t have to give
I forgive you for enabling your son
I forgive you for neglecting yourself to put others first
I forgive you for every indiscretion, every fault, every heartbreak
She wept quietly staring straight back into my deep, blue eyes
Tears fell from my cheeks onto His hand and He gently grasped mine
A burden was lifted from me like never before
The picture was real
It’s true I thought to myself forgiveness is divine
As He left to take care of his daily work, I stood staring at her
A smile came across her face and I felt a sense of calm
And walked away from the mirror anew
