[Trimeric 2 Poetry Contest sponsored by Janice Canerdy Sept 2024] Placed 1st

Both fell in love with Beaver Isle A plot was bought close to the lake Their house was built in rustic style This house a home they planned to make. A plot was bought close to the lake With a clear view and facing East So eyes on amber dawns could feast. Their house was built in rustic style With rugged charm, simple décor… One more surprise they had in store. This house a home they planned to make That would not be pie in the sky: Hush ~ I can hear a baby’s cry!

Dear Paul, what a lovely poem! The way you capture the serene beauty of Beaver Isle and the anticipation of building a home there is truly heart-warming. The repeating lines give it a soothing, rhythm, reflecting the natural flow of life by the lake. I especially love the gentle transition from house to home— highlighting that it’s not just a place but a shared dream and space for new beginnings. The ending with the baby’s cry feels like a promise of love and family, adding a beautiful layer of joy and hope. Congratulations on an awesome POTD my friend...Hugs

Awwn this is such a soul warming write and the ending wasnt expected at all, so well woven, and flows so well too! I love how descriptive it is especially, “ Their house was built in rustic style This house a home they planned to make.” A house when homed is a place that would resonate with ones heartbeat, so beautiful! Pleasure reading this gem! Your rhymes are brilliant! Best wishes for the contest too, sending you light always
