Beacons of hope

There are people who are beacons of hope, Who keep bitterness at bay, Despite all that comes their way, Each and every day. Of course they feel anger, Despair, sadness, and loneliness, And want to scream out loud, But bitterness they keep at bay, Each and every day. Kindness they somehow keep, Each and every day, Not letting bitterness creep, Into their day, No matter how bad the state of play, And that is why they are a beacon of hope, In a world that gives bitterness too much scope, To creep into the day and make it hard for most to cope, Without kindness to point the way, To making it through the day.

Thank you Dietra. This one was about my neighbor who is a solo mum with two boisterous boys aged 4 and 7 to different fathers neither of who can be bothered to take up visiting rights. Yet somehow she finds a way to cope with that and and parents and a twin brother who do not give the recognition she deserves. She has bad days often but is still standing. I help by mowing lawns for small amount to cover petrol and babysit sometimes as her boys have basically adopted me. (I was an ECE teacher for 30 years). She takes the boys out to park etc. even on days she struggles. She finds a way to avoid total meltdown day after day. Definitely a beacon of hope.
