Notes About The Poem

BILL DALE IS THE WONDERFUL MAN WHO SET UP BEACH BUDDIES

'beach Buddies' Collect 'stuff' - For Contest

Twice a month on our tiny little Isle A group of heroes go that extra mile Wearing protective clothing they clean the beach Removing vast amounts of rubbish within their reach Plastic bottles, fast food containers and tins Items tossed away so thoughtlessly – it’s a sin So many marine animals can get tangled in discarded plastic They need our protection, or the results could be very drastic Hundreds of bin bags of rubbish are removed from our beach Restoring them to beauty, now they are as pretty as a peach Volunteers work tirelessly with amazing solidarity To help ‘Beach Buddies’ which is a registered charity Contest: Stuff Thomas Martin 10th June 2015

That is fabulous Jan. It is up to us to keep the beauty around. Most people no longer have a conscience or are too lazy to dispose of their garbage properly.....a7

Well done to a bunch of heroes. Sadly, anything adrift in the Irish sea has really only one place to stop and sadly, its IoM. More power to the Beach Buddies! Woo! Nice work, Jan, and congrats on the win. Viv x

Big smiles to all whom endeavor to clean the beaches within their peripheral. When we go to Nairn beach on the Moray Firth, glass is the main thing I look for, for so many little feet and paws grace the sands. It abhors me seeing such discarded by people, and what the tides bring. Nice poem Jan, love it, good luck in the contest, hugs, James xx

You have written a wonderful tribute about this volunteer organization, Jan. A strong poem for the contest. It's # 1 with me and a 7 rating. Also, thanks for your comments on my (almost) STUFF contest entry. Blessings, Darlene

G'day Jan... good on those people who help to keep your beaches clean. They truly are heroes towards the wildlife as well, but what do you make of the inconsiderate people who leave their rubbish behind... volunteers are the salt of the earth - good luck Jan - Lindsay

I guess a high percentage of the rubbish is washed up on the tide - so much harm is caused to the wildlife with fishing nets etc - seeing the images of the injured animals is heartbreaking

Bless you for this poem; I have seen the effects of plastic on God's mammals and if a human mammal were to suffer like that, plastic would have already been banned everywhere. Thanks for putting the word out in a poem.

a wonderful poem about a wonderful charity, jan! it's so awful that people can be so heartless and selfish about abusing the planet but it's great that other people are there to try to right some of those wrongs...

It is not necessarily the Islanders that create the litter it could come from anywhere and get swept on the beach with the tides:-( Hugs Jan xx
