Be Still

Life had accelerated to a dizzying pace do this- go there- a madcap race that made no sense no reason or rhyme but you never noticed for who had the time? You meant no harm but spiritual disciplines that once meant so much ~ had to go ~ as they seemed outmoded cumbersome and slow so you filled their place with easier ideals cheaper tools with mass appeal to carry on your frantic climb But over time the rope you clung to tattered and frayed suddenly giving way and down you fell into your well of good intentions Now life postponed your journey stopped halted hindered barricaded blocked you seem surprised and even shocked at the taste of this bitter pill for you've forgotten how to Be Still For stillness seems such a waste of time must be doing efficiently producing busy machines on assembly lines but no- for now, at least it all must cease and Be Still “Be Still and Know...” Know what? That your life was in a rut until He kindly set you free- free to be Still “Be Still and Know...” By blinders or bits using any means necessary He often tames rebellious wills like we break wild horses turning minds around changing life courses by making us Still “Be Still and Know...” Life, and what you hold were never in your control during development of character through means not preferred painfully spurred toward the goal of a more perfect soul

great message poem, Rhona. It's hard for me to let my mind be still, and so I have insomnia. I admire people who can relax their minds!

Thanks! I struggle with that sometimes, too. The mind can be a very difficult thing to shut off sometimes! ;)

Yes, the pressures of life can really take our attention but meditation slows us down, gets us to breathe again and rest in tranquil abiding. Namaste.

Sometimes we need to pause from our busy hustle and bustle life to reflex, rethink, restrategize and even re-evaluate. To be still is needed to heal the weariness from the daily pressures suppressing us.. Great poem. Merry Christmas Rhona and a happy 2019.

So true in the rush of the times to just learn to stop and enjoy the silence...

Soul guidance comes from above and when we ignore it, troubles ensue but, they remind us to head right back into our soul for the next guided step in life. Well penned.

This part calls to me as I am not still until He lands me down and out, and sits on me hard. " down you fell into your well of good intentions Now life postponed your journey stopped halted hindered barricaded blocked you seem surprised and even shocked at the taste of this bitter pill for you've forgotten how to Be Still" - I am still today. Have had two naps, thanks to a viral infection. Thanks for the reminder of why He has to do this to me. It truly is the only way to make it happen.

I understand SO WELL... This was inspired by an illness that nearly killed me a couple of years ago. As I was lying flat on my back, struggling to breathe, all I could think was that this was the only way God could get me to just stop & be still!! Pitiful that it had to come to that, but I guess we just don't know how to slow down sometimes...! Hope you are feeling better today!
