Listen to poem:
A touch of smooth ivory, brought laughter to your eyes. That familiar gazing giggle that creates such a mess, no truth fortelling nor desiring ever to confess.. bristled in numb hands wrought in unquieted disguise. Is it too much that I ask? a few fresh ground beans, shouted impatiently at the empty vessel. The smell of coffee chiding me as I wrestle.. empty cup bask'd in dream; of one sugar, one cream. Could you see me turning red with every turn that flaunted, did guilty pleasure spread, leaving with little other choice. Or was it embarrassment heard in that admiring voice. A valentine chore done just for you was all I wanted. 'Oh honey let me help you', whispered into my flushed cheek. I don't hold a candle to you dear, a truth clear to see.. As you drew near I heard two soft kind lips say, 'My love you're turning the handle the wrong way'.

This is so delightful Richard. I love the way you couple your poems with music and in this romantic tune I was really feeling Valentine’s Day love. Thank you my friend. The humor made me smile. Blessings xxoo

Victor, True to reality. Valentine, a priest of Rome. Emperor Claudius II decided single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage. Valentine defied Claudius and performed marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine was discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death. Others say Saint Valentine of Terni, a bishop, was the true namesake. -R

This one reminded me of my husband. He can make coffee but nothing beyond that and I don't like coffee. He wouldn't even dream of surprising me with cooking. He simply doesn't know. Enjoyed reading, wife knows husband cannot do, will come to see. In case this is true, you should learn. It helps. Take care Rama

Nothing like a sweet voice of love coming to your rescue. Much we can't do without their tender touch. I see the heart in coffee cup in your photo --that you evoked in your poem, Richard.
