Be Mindful When You Write

When you pick a pen and paper to write
A line or two, or poem you feel just right
In your heart you feel, in your mind you think
The best you will give, your heart and soul’s link.

So you let the feelings flow from your heart
Use all the words to form a work of art
You write down and smile, when it’s one of joy
Cry when it is sad, still words you employ.

So you write and write, till you feel it’s right
Then you stop and read, now it’s taken flight
The words you have written have formed a life
It can heal or kill, start or quash a strife.

Be mindful then, your heart and soul is right
When you pick a pen and paper to write.

just be you when you write get naked and walk around the city expose yourself whatever set the feelings inside you free shape free free open free and most of all - poetry is against the rules, a renegade, a soldier, nothing, anything, everything a thing free get naked in each poem you enter to shape up

Very true and realistic perceptions on writing honestly from the heart and using tact and wisdom in the words. Words have power to heal or hurt, and we must be careful how we write them.

Hello Kim... great advice in your sonnet Kim. Words have a way of uplifting, but can also be very hurtful. What we write has consequences. Regards - Lindsay

Writing from the heart, sad or joyful, it's a poet's personal way of expression. Poetry is an art and a beautiful tool; used well it can give much delight! // paul

Yes, Kim. People have to be careful not to cause suffering through what they write. In our country we have a saying that goes: "Better a word less than a word extra...".
