Be Certain You Want It.

You desperately need your own share of life's riches
to assuage your behind and whatever else itches.
Be prepared for the price for you surely will pay.
Be quite certain you want it. You might get it today.

You long for the face and sheer physique of the gods,
without steroids or surgeons to defy all the odds.
Never mind any buts. To these caprices you pray.
Be quite certain you want it. You might get it today.

You're stood up, rejected by a few haughty CENSORED.
You yearn for revenge on these fey feline witches.
You might mull it over. Just put it off and delay.
Be quite certain you want it. You might get it today.

You still dream of a mansion and a Playmate in sable.
A feast served on silver on a polished pine table.
Be aware what you're asking for it won't go away.
Be quite certain you want it. You might get it today.

Based on the common version of the saying by Oscar Wilde:
" BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR, BECAUSE YOU JUST MIGHT GET IT."

good one...if we had what we wanted and not what we needed we would probably be in a mess.

Gerard, I knew the quote before I even read your note. It kept going through my mind as I read your rhyme. Awesome entry for Joe's contest. Wishing you success, my friend. Love, Carolyn

I would never get it. hahaha. (so I will keep on wishing!) Glad I made a liar of you with Dr. Kildaire and I am glad somebody here knows who he is. You'd be surprised how many here did not even know who he was!! Luv, Andrea

Cool Quatrain Gerard. Your first stanza especially, with curing the itch, was a good starter, as was the rest of the poem. Thanks for your comment, it was most gracious, important to me. Agape, Moses

Oh such true words from Oscar Wilde and greater words from my friend Gerard... amazing piece dear and its captivating to read... I was stretching to show the analogy between what the phrase "putting on the dog" meant compared to the doggie lifestyle.. so to support my friend, Andrea, and her contest too... its all in the spirit of fun and poetry... the wedding was super lovely .. short sweet simple and tender.. my vows are posted too.. will have photos soon as I get back to home base..luv..
