BAND OF COYOTES The howling of snow across bucolic roads Coyotes constrain the neighborhood Weather prediction — gone amok Eight inches of white fur — piled high Coyotes huddle over car roof and windows At this point — forsake the bread and milk Pushing pelts left and right, forging pathway Steady feet shiver past dangerous breaths Shave car, drive cautiously down the steep Coyotes melt away...fears fall away Warm rain eats up the remaining few Turning the white pavement black 12/11/2017 Tristich Form

Wow. Great comparison. Makes the snow take on even more dangerous qualities. Unique and well done!

You reminded me of Canada's North when I was driving in the snow and could not see black pavement for months! Thank for the thrill dear Kim!

I like this, Kim, comparing the snow to coyotes. Original. We have coyotes also where I live but they are despised by most – they eat house cats and small dogs and will attack small children lift alone in a backyard! Still I have soft spot for them. So much so I wrote a 15 page narrative on one some years ago. Thank you for stopping to read my humor. Best to you. / M

Thank you, Maurice, for the encouragement! You must have learned a lot about the coyotes in your research! I’ve been told that they cut across our backyard so I’m careful when the grandkids go outside. <3 Kim
