Bad day for a duck
my dog Buddy attacked my neighbors poodle
Dad said I never use my noodle.
Big vet pills now I have to pay
Just hoping both dogs survive OK.
I sat on a bench in Congress Park
Then 2 ducks came at me, like Noah's ark
They saw my bag of lifesaver gummies
They felt entitled - it belonged in their tummies
I’d biked four hours, thought I’d earned my prize,
But those bossy ducks had hunger in their eyes.
And if a gummy slid the wrong way,
A choking duck would ruin my day.
So I ate my gummy, while they gave me the look
It felt cruel, so my hands shook
Gummies fell to the ground, they scrambled to scoop
Their beaks got stuck with gelatinous goop.
(chorus)
Everywhere I go, I cause a sad mess,
Try to spread some joy, but I bring distress.
Even harmless candy, what should be fun,
converts into situations where damage is done.
I was wracked with guilt, because I'm a nice fellow
I swore from now on, no gummies, just Jello.
My life's a saga of bad luck
Can't I sit in a park without damaging a duck?
I couldn't stay, and unplug their beaks
They were turning blue, their chances were bleak
I biked out of there, caught my Amtrak train
Pretend to be cheerful at home, but it's all pain.
