Back Then

Back Then

Back then I was fresh-faced and pure as morning dew,
brown eyes sparkled golden with the sweetness of innocence.

Back then I smiled like a cherub, floated on the blue lake
glittering with sunbeams, and chased fireflies into twilight.

Back then I skipped into the moonlight playing hide and seek,
winked back at the silent man in the moon, and blew him kisses.

Back then I embraced the whole world with arms wide open,
like a joyful bird in flight, spreading my light and love.

Back then I was an angel in pigtails adorned with silky red ribbons…
until I took a bite of that Forbidden Fruit from the Tree of Life.

Faraz Ajmal September 29, 2018 at 7:08 AM That is such a lovely poem, ahh life through the point of view of a child, it is good to see that how happy they are, without any worry of future of anything, just eat, smile and enjoy, as you mention the tree of life, ever wonder what would have happened if Adam wouldn't have eaten from that tree, maybe we all would have been living in heaven or God might wouldn't have created other humans, so we may not have existed.
