Awaiting My Ascension
barren skinned and abandoned I sought my
redemption-
for loneliness was my zenith, the utmost distance
from symphonies of tomorrow's love
resonating fear guided me downward toward
all things that my youth used to murmur-
echoes of quiescent constellations call out to
me and I am left nude…
descending downward into a bounty of loss;
the staircase awaits my good intentions as my
racing heart knows not what has been left for
me to conquer
like a chrysalis, my porcelain skin protects my
heart from what is and what is to come-
enchanted by life’s astounding contradictions,
I lead none other but myself into cascades of
lachrymose forgotten moments
for I have been placed amongst those who
suffer more than me,
it breaks me when children weep, sisters die-
so, now I walk treading remorsefully so that I
can forgive those who wronged me;
the wrongs I have extended need to be
released into the starlit sky we call a marvel
for I am descending downward into a bounty
of loss,
barren skinned and abandoned-
awaiting my resplendent ascension
