Notes About The Poem

Autumn's Breath

Beneath the amber dawn and autumn hues,
a cabin hides where forest touches shore;
its chimney breathes a puff of whitish blue
a sign of warmth behind its worn wood door.

The lake reflects the calm of autumn’s sphere,
as early morning mist hangs in the air;
and ripples, echoing the fading year,
sedately disappear as if not there.

Within the timbered walls a peace resides,
a place to gather thoughts as seasons wane;
I reminisce the dreams my mind confides
and pen the moments of my life’s refrain.

   So let me dwell where autumn’s breath is slow
   and write the rhymes no summer song could know.

Enjoyed your sonnet and especially: I reminisce the dreams my mind confides and pen the moments of my life’s refrain. I hope you will take time to read my hybronnet poem, “Garden Storm.”

' So let me dwell where autumn’s breath is slow. ' This thought is soft, symbolic and poetic, my dear friend. There's a longing to linger in these delicate moments. The images you paint are serene, peaceful and elegant. I'm embracing the many tender emotions that tangle around your words. The picture is beautiful. Just love a cabin surrounding the water like that, with all those vivid colors. Many wonderful blessings to you, John. Hugs, Brandy

and the Head of the Charles Regatta is on this weekend. A wild time on the old river. Loved this poem John although I've already put my kayak to bed with the bears.
