Autumn's Breath
AUTUMN'S BREATH
Leaves bathed here and there
As drenching light falls through the air.
See the cascade of the sunlight dreep
And pour through the leafy mantle’s sweep,
Washing the flutt’ring mass in light.
Like a shoal of herring spilling bright,
They turn and twist and whirl,
And leaves and canopy swirl.
Undergrowth veiled in a sunlit fold:
Myriad waves of floating gold.
