On the edge of the woods, gently stirring Squirrels who race and betray their yearnings Carrying acorns, nuts, the day is blurring As the wind carries hope, a blessing’s earnings Across gentlest twilight’s song, serenities blowing Whispering grace through the leaves, restoring So I know that love keeps alive the heart’s flowing And wrens, robins, bluejays thrill – heart’s soaring At the end of an autumn prayer, I hear hope rising Coloring the soft gray skies in notes of glory Reaching beyond the weathered hand who’s baptizing All the world in crimson and gold, autumn’s story Beyond the trees, where the breeze blesses the soul There comes a prayer for serenity that never fades Serenity so soothing it feels like it can make hearts whole Breaking through the spirit in the gentlest cascades Loneliness feels like it is meant to be in autumn’s tune Beyond the mountains, where trees rise like velvet praise Listening for the future’s melody who reaches us too soon Singing of the moment when faith meets love to amaze Autumn nights stir awake the still of a heart who believes Despite the wind in the trees, the light still sees Beyond the darkness, the shadows, the moon who grieves There is a promise so lasting when I bow to my knees
