Autumn Memories

Spring chased old man winter from his place
And silenced him with her capricious face
Sometimes a tear, sometimes a smile;
She would beguile
My lazy feet
To dance in some leafy bowered retreat.

When dreamy delightful summer flies
And looks at me with laughing eyes;
She draws me to her clover fields
And my heart yields
To her winsome wooing
And her siren song is my undoing.

One day I saw the sudden flare
Of autumn's wind blown crimson hair;
She stirred the whispering leaves and then
I felt again
A yearning glow
Of years remembered long ago
And I lived the dream I never knew
Of lost memories and my love for you.

Wow Elizabeth... beautiful descriptions of the changing seasons! I felt very included into your poem as if I was actually seeing it all for myself... the autumn leaves, the snow, the flowers. Even the sonic quickness of your words made me think of just how fast a single year flies by... Awesome work and thanks for checking out my poem today.

lines we wish we could say. but our lives are not shakesperian lives. lines on a paper. our live are filled with emotions and moments that leave us speechless.

Dear Lizzie, This is worded so beautifully. Your imagery especially concerning 'autumn's wind blown crimson hair', just silenced my breath. What a vision you provide in this wonderful poem. You are not only a poet but a great artist too! Thank you for your nice comments. My computer is broken and I am dealing with a mini that I can barely read that strains my eyes, so I can't comment too often. Can't wait to get my laptop fixed.

Hi Lizzie.. it's very tempting to just say or ditto ... what Taha said. ...It's right on. You've got it girl... so flaunt it and that's what these beauties of yours do... and so it is all through your book also. outstanding

Hey Elizabeth! I hope you're fine. I simply must apologize for not keeping in touch with you. The thing is, i'm a ghost writer and have been buried deep in work for the last few weeks. But I'm really glad that I stopped by to visit you and let this beautiful poem delight my heart. This is undoubtedly another one of your masterpieces; brilliant, eloquent and so full of wonderful imagery. It is really commendable how your rhymes flow so gently and yet carry such deep meaning that they always evoke strong feelings! This is an amazing write my dear. Please keep the creative pen flowing, Love, Taha

I LOVE this. I have a poem that does the same thing (though in a different way) going from each season until fall. These kinds of poems are always so enjoyable for me to see.
