Autumn

Full foliage in summer doth impress Never would trees in that season disrobe Yet prim autumn retires to undress Universally round the entire globe. Gradually the colours change in tone Bright and dark green turn golden, red then brown While whistling winds through skeletal trees moan Just as the leaves in droves come tumbling down Stark and bare, wholly denuded they stand Defenceless, unprettified, beauty shorn They remain reminders of barren land Their sole hope is that they will be reborn. Every season brings its own reward Autumn prefigures Persephone's Lord.
