Aunt Mabel's Latest Letter
Yesterday Auntie Mabel’s latest letter arrived in the mail
Telling me she is finally retiring at year’s end without fail,
That she’d heard from Aunt Lula Fay who is rather frail
And, is upset because her nephew Sid has landed in jail
Seems, it is illegal this time of the year to shoot a quail.
Sid, not her gay nephew, you understand, who wears a veil,
He’s Aunt Fay’s boy by her second marriage and all male
She mentions, off-hand, if I might kindly put up his bail,
But I know better because Sid would jump ship and sail.
It’s clear Mabel is hoping I won’t let her Nephew Sid flail
Before I’d put up money for Sid I’d need lots more detail!
Next week I’ll set aside some time and dutifully correspond
That I will definitely not be going her nephew Sid’s bond,
Since my experience has taught me to avoid being conned
As to Aunt Lula Fay, she has enough money to respond
I’ll mention that I’ve heard her gay nephew is now a blonde
Ask if it’s true that at his prom a sequined gown he’d donned.
Of all my aunts on my dad’s side, I am of Mabel most fond,
She’s the one who married a Brit and moved across the pond
She seldom mentions her children, or how many she spawned,
And I’ve often wondered what happened to Albert and Fernand
Aunt Lula Fay once suggested Ethel had become a vagabond.
