Attempt To Rescue Spring

tall, proud emerald stems like the West Witch’s guards

ruby-throated hummingbirds click in a homespun garden

tornadic spin thrusts homes, hither and thither, like flying brooms

strange snow lingers like torn pieces of Glinda’s tatterdemalion gown

a tin can, scarecrow and stuffed lion attempt to rescue Spring

rain and no oil rust the landscape — no drought in sight

the poppy overpopulation causes this season to slumber

the cold claims the North and whizzes Southward.

dare we kill off Winter white?

A most funloving poem, Kim. Very witty mingling of The Wizard of Oz imagery. Love it.

No need to kill it, it will die soon on its own, only to be resurrected as the year ends as does the Wicked Witch of the West as Elphaba. Nice entertwining of The Wizard of Oz into your write.
