At the Peak of Summer

at the peak
of Summer
a calm heat
all is green
and silent

lantanas
have flourished
all in bloom
most orange
one bright red

the bouquet
says hello
when I step
out to greet
day or night

gives solace
to my heart
most grands’ grown
and far off
bless my soul

and God bless
my soul’s test
it is hard
but I’m blessed
in Summer

leaves will turn
leaving limbs
twirling hues
what more can
I ask thee

I’ll feel chill
fairly thrilled
when kids call
in shiver
of Autumn

Lovely imagery, Kim. Any color in summer is a blessing and is uplifting to my soul. Bill

Kim, I enjoyed reading this impeccable piece. Yours is a comforting portrayal of a season at its acme. You zoom in on the frequent charms of this time of year. And Autumn gets a timely footnote Howard

What is it about summer this year that is haunting me? Here's to autumnal coolness.

sounds like the description of our tree beds and flower beds...they are a beautiful source of solace, except in winter. Lantanas are outstanding right now. have a great week, sara
