Notes About The Poem

Image result for pictures of a couple getting married years agoAfter our wedding anniversary which is soon to come, that will be the last of the first time experiencing special days or events alone. It won't be until late in October when he died but that will end all the first time alone. I hope it gets easier. I will always miss and remember him the good and the bad. This is not us in the picture. I  had a simple home wedding, nothing fancy.

At September's End- DHR

Remembering our scary wedding day Even though far away our wedding night We were getting married going on our way Outside there were precious warmth and day light We were getting married this day come what may Our hearts and minds were filled with pure delight That September would be filled with delight Early in the month was to be our wedding day A day we didn't always remember in May Even though everything was going well at night We always remembered our love at light No matter what happened or came our way We'd be committed, stand firm come what may Each day we'd find something to bring delight Early when there was the first beginning of light And all throughout tough, trying tense day But there came an end, then love in night Since your death, I've handled come what may Sometimes hard to handle were my come what may Now, somehow, God shows me the best way Only now there's no one to hold me at night Someone to make me feel like his loved delight During your illness through a few long days I'd had to search and still do search for His Light Our wedding day date comes, I still seek His Light To help me make it another year of come what may Help fill my life with good each and every day As September ends help me let God have His way Give me the desire to be only God's delight Let His love fill me more even at night When September ends in dark of night October comes in bringing fall's angular light Show me God how to find things which delight No matter how hard or come what may Grant me strength, show me your way Help me to live for you each and every day September will come; first time alone on our wedding day You've helped me so far, showed me your pure way Uplift, guide, hold me on that day come what may

Why, thank you, Pascal. I appreciate the nice review and kind words. It has been hard but soon a year will have passed since he died. I know the first year has to be the hardest. Thank you for saying congratulations. 👍⭐. Sara K.

Thank you, Anaya. We just had our 64th wedding anniversary but he is in heaven and I am still here on earth, so we were together married for 63 years. This was my first one without him. We dated 2 1/2 years before we married. Your visit with congratulations was uplifting. 👍⭐. Sara K.

By the way. I just noticed. You used that sestina form the sponsor asked for. I am still deliberating how to address this theme. It was clever of you to use the suggested form

When your dear one went out of your life, God has come to take his place. On your wedding anniversary when you are alone for the first time, may God give you the strength to endure all hardships and stay happy in the memories of your sweetheart. A touching poem.

Thank you, Andrea. It has not been easy. Phyllis through the respect and love she has for God has been a big help. Doris had spinal surgery just before her father got sick, so she was not as much help as she could have been. She would have been there more. Our son is in a really bad health situation so he could not help. Sara K.
