Notes About The Poem

At 27 Years Old

 
a dismal cultural phenomenon 
         created the worldwide 27 club
    that consists of a list of dead members
popular musicians, actors, celebrities and others
                   who died at 27 years old
 storms no longer shake the ocean of their sleep
    some passed because of drug
         or alcohol abuse
                  homicide and suicide
   or traffic accidents
           and the wheels of time roll and cease
I am so saddened that the list of names
     includes many I admire and adore                 
           Brian Jones, Jimmy Hendrix, Janice Joplin
  Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse
                     and so many more . . . 
             now, memories on the roadmap of time
              voices that burned like bright flames
    how, why did they all manage to die at 27 ?
                         is it a secret cult ?
        is it a mystery that will never be solved ?
             and who is next to make the list ?
