"as we walk away"

the days began like every other
you wanting to know where I would be
like each time before
I always replied I don't know
never looking for a sign within your smile or eyes
we parted as I walked away

once again the days began like every other
you wanting to know how long my stay would be
like each time before
I always replied I don't know
still never looking for a sign within your smile or eyes
we parted as I walked away

yet again as we've done before
by chance we meet along the way
the difference being
it is I now who sees your smile and eyes
as we part as you walk away
it is I who wonders if you still see my smile or eyes

finally on beautiful days like every other
I say to you where will you be
happily you reply
happily we see each other's smile and eyes
now on days like no other
we embrace as we walk away
