As We Crash Upon Your Verdant Shores

Our dreams of your acceptance bob
like flotsam and jetsam in the waves
as we crash upon your verdant shores

Our hopes of sustenance and charity
lie like lagan on the bottom of your sea
where your abundance does not await us

Our hearts were drawn by your beacons;
freedom, compassion, truth and dignity
crushed by fear, ignorance and intolerance

Our meager lives and your treasured values
each now victims of these three rogue waves
as we crash upon your verdant shores

David- I am going to send you an email through this site- I am not sure if it will work (fingers crossed). My students are thrilled that we got in contact with you!

Do you have a Twitter handle? I teach middle school Language Arts/Social Studies, and my students annotated, analyzed and rewrote your poem today- I would love to share them with you and for you to give them feedback! Your poem fit perfectly into our discussion on immigration. Thank you!

Thank you so much, I am honored and would be happy to help if I can. I don't use Twitter; perhaps there is another medium we can use.
