As Sun Dies - POTD

With my last rays
   s m e a r i n g the sky
               like apricot jelly,
    I shine bitter-sweetly
          on the horizon.

Transforming into
      a blazing blood-red
          before I vanish completely,
             I let myself
                      slide into the sea,
    yielding to
              the coming darkness.

Andrea, congratulations on your win and belated congratulations on your POTD! This poem is so rich in visceral images of "apricot jelly," a "blood red" sun and sliding with the sun into the sea. I love that you chose to write in the voice of the sun. Blessings of beautiful sunsets over the mountains to you!

' my last rays s m e a r i n g the sky. ' Such a creative way to describe how a sun sets in the sky. There's a masterpiece for all to enjoy, as colors softly collide. Congratulations Andrea, on Poem of the Day. My best to you. :) Hugs, Brandy
