As I Look Back
Just a few more days ‘til I turn eighty-one
As I look back, life has been so much fun,
There were times when I jumped the gun
Times I stayed when I should have run.
Some say, at eighty, life has just begun
It’s those people we probably should shun,
Sort of like old ladies who call me “Hon!”
Not realizing my courting days are done.
Nothing I like better than days in the sun
Like back when I was courting at twenty-one
I once turned away suitors now I have none,
Once I was quite slender, now I weigh a ton.
