As a Silenced Trumpet Weeps

A silent trumpet signals reveille’s call
Shadows play liars poker
Amid the stone
Sunshine tiptoes past
The grey mourners
Forgotten flags
Offer a tattered role call
A sad wind stiffens in salute
As a silenced trumpet weeps

A sad memory of those who die for their country. And once the trumpet falls silent, it would be somebody else's turn :( // paul

Compelling portrait, John. ... We are at fault, of course -- we and our 'freedom' for which the departed gave their very lives.

A soldiers epitaph. The trumpet, the flag, a medal goodbye. Not a lot for our heroes.

John, reading this made me picture the scene of a veteran’s cemetery where the only memory of them is expressed by the sun and the wind. I would weep with the silent trumpet. .
