As-Salam Alaykum
I meet a Muslim brother in San Fernando
I tell him As-salam alaykum
It was time to break his fasting
So he invites me for dinner to his home
There was very a big gathering
It had about 45 people
He introduce me to his family
And then show me a seat on the table
His wife tells me to help my self
As she put a plate in front of me
So I started to take some food
Thanking her for the hospitality
There were so many different dishes
So I take a little bit of all
The lady next to me phone rings
She said excuse and got up to take the call
I really like how they stew chicken
Cook the goat and mango talkari
I didn’t notice some fall on my shirt
And mess it up with curry
Two guys start talking about fishing
One of them saying how he has a boat
A young girl sharing cake and ice cream
It was time to make room for desert
Then a baby started crying
So the mother feed him a bottle
A bunch of little children playing
Eating all colors popsicles
My friend call me on the sofa
To meet his mother and father
Then his wife come and gives me
A cold bottle of springs water
Then I see my best friend Derek
Who is a here Krishna
He comes with his wife shanty
A Hindu girl from in Barataria
He said “salaam, salaam
We all said “As-salam alaykum
His wife said “Namaste
My friend said welcome to our home
It was a wonderful evening
A mixture of race and religions
Everyone talking and laughing
Having friendly conversations
Well, it was getting late
Time for me to go home
I thank them for having me over
And I “said “As-salam alaykum
Now I coming down the front steps
Thinking this is a night I won’t forget
While walking to get a taxi
I stop to buy a pack of cigarette
