     Our mind sees sky as golden glow

               with dawn's new day on earth below.

     Our mind thinks sky as azure blue

            with cotton clouds in daytime view.

     Our mind sees sunset's orange tint

            with brilliant visions that imprint.

     But sometimes nature's artistry

            will paint her sky with majesty;

     to think outside the box instead,

            and blossom in...purple and red.

well-worded, Sandra, enjoyed your couplets here. It is truly an artistic child who would choose a sunrise (or sunset) at the art teacher's prompt to paint the sky. And congrats on your placement.

That was very good, Sandra, especially the thinking out of the box leading to the last line prompt. Excellent write. For me the "or minds" bit clicked and set the rhythm. Congrats on a fine win. A seven from me! And a fave. ~karam~

A pretty poem, but slightly spoiled by the three-times repetition of "our mind" which made it tedious in the first part. Anyway, well done for this poem doing better than thirty-one others. :) Best wishes, Julia

I read your Soupmail, Julia, and I do understand your point about the repetition of the words "our mind." And I began working on your new contest and looking forward to it. Thanks again.

Hear it though... It's not just "mind", but "our mind", as I said. Both words are rather dull said once, let alone three times. After that, the poem picked up.

Hi Julia, thanks again for another great contest. I am pleased to have made the very short list of winners, and appreciate that you saw its merits despite the word repetition of 'mind'. I guess I just wanted to emphasize that our 'mind' is so used to seeing the ordinary. Again, thank you so much! Sandra
