Notes About The Poem

(Entry for the Raining Cats and Dogs Poetry Contest, sponsor: Christopher Delegans, submitted May17, 2026 - First Place)

Premiere Contest WinnerAristo-Cat?

My house is ruled by an aristocrat
in the form of a petite pussycat.
Clearly, from where I stand,
I'm second-in-command.
That explains why she's called "Magnifi-Cat"!

A least you know how to write a Limerick in the correct form, Jim. Well done.

Nothing surprises me here any more, Jim. It seems though, if a contest requires entries are to be written in a specific form, the winning poems should have been properly written only in that form. I salute your response and integrity.

Thank you, Lin. To be honest, I'm very surprised about some of the other poems that got winning placements. (I take it you were surprised too.) I guess for some people the rules of limerick writing don't matter.
