Are You There God

Are You There God?

Are you there god,
And not just a voice,
A sound in my head,
Or just a life-choice?

Are you not just a reflection, 
Of what goes on in my life;
Friendships, events, occurrences, 
And the things that cause me strife? 

Do you not just soak up my guilt, 
Of not giving foreign aid to Africa, 
Not showing care to my friend, 
And not doing what’s right without end? 

Are you physical, tangible, 
Touchable by my hands,
Able to be defined, 
Ready with discernment stands?

The physical is true and real, 
And determines the social;
It’s me that's responsible, 
For my actions, thoughtless or noble. 

You are not there at all,
But I can always ask,
For a greater confidence,
In my life task.

You can't elicit or evoke,
As someone would;
You're not in any way proactive, 
But just a personality hood.

People console and listen, 
Take away your fear,
Stop the insecurity,
Dry the wetted tear.

Dominique Webb August 13, 2023 at 3:17 AM Shockingly I’ve changed my opinion about the existence of God. I now think he does indeed exist and Jesus was his son. However, I very much believe that most of the church should take a rethink and a more backwards pose about the divinity of Jesus and talk more about the history and humanity of Jesus. As you say - he had human hands because his life was tangible, interactive and to do with our suffering - as the focus. Although Jesus was 100% human and 100% divine, whether or not he was 100% or in any way divine is totally up to the reader.

Diane Christian October 13, 2015 at 6:12 AM he is there for sure, I think sometimes life circumstances can make us feel if he is with us, but we have the promise never will I leave you never will I forsake you. Amen he is with us even when we don't see it or feel it. God bless you.
