Arctic Winds

Spare a prayer for my fair Lady Spouse Her last sigh was as shy as a mouse She died in the snow A moment ago Frozen numb coming from the outhouse* *Many Native Americans live in homes without electricity, plumbing, or heating, and Trump's shutdown of the BIA ( "Bossing Indians Around") prevented the sale of permits which allow Native Americans to collect firewood on their own land.

Excellent dark humor, Rico! I have a friend who lived for ten years in the bitter White Mountains of New Hampshire, running to use the outhouse every night. It's ridiculous to tell Native Americans not to collect firewood. Just rubs salt in the wounds we have already inflicted on the tribes. I was laughing hard until I read your note at the end. Now am sooo angry. Bravo for pointing this out! Hugs, Carolyn

Unemployment on Fort Apache Indian Reservation exceeds 80%, so it isn't uncommon to see an Apache clad in just T-shirt and Levis huddled under a snow-covered bush. Aloha! Rico
